Questions

Which coding agent do engineers use most?

Among the 94 engineers here: Claude Code (64), Codex (51), Cursor (9), OpenCode (8). 68 of 94 use more than one agent.

How do engineers review AI-written code?

31 of 94 have another model or agent review the code before it lands, 8 still read every line, 21 spot-check the risky parts, and 7 rely on tests alone or ship without a review.

Do engineers run several coding agents at once?

29 of 94 say how many agents they run in parallel, from one at a time to dozens. See each card for their own words.

How often do engineers change their AI coding setup?

Often: 79 of 94 changed their setup (agent, model, harness or how many agents they run at once) in the year to 15 October 2026. Every card shows how old its newest source is.

Where does this data come from?

From each person's own public repos (rules files like CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md, skills, hooks), their posts, talks and podcasts. Every claim links to its source with a date. Courses and product pitches don't count. The data is open on GitHub.

How it's made

94 stacks, 897 public sources: rules files in their repos, posts, talks and podcasts, first-person only (courses and product pitches don't count). Every field links to where they said it, with the date; fewer than five sourced facts, no card.

Not a ranking, and not proof of what anyone does every day: it's what people say in public, which leans toward people who write about agents. Values marked inferred are our reading, like a model taken from commit co-author lines. Styles and yellow keys are our picks. Last checked 12 Oct 2026.

Who made this

Peter Hraska (@virpo), with a lot of help from Claude Code and Codex. It started as research for Prehistoriq, the code review tool we're building.
